What is this course about?

This six-week course is designed for anyone interested in developing their self-esteem and inner strength using guided meditation and visualization techniques.

Gentle, relaxing and inspiring meditations will help you to value your uniqueness and gain insights into your deeper self: where you are going and what you really need.

The meditations include uplifting methods you can use at home whenever you wish to feel calm, confident or to access inner wisdom.

Classes will include the following:

  • 1 or 2 uplifting meditations (of 20-30 minutes each).

  • Recording your inner journeys on paper (in words or drawing).

  • Sharing experiences and discussion in pairs or in the group (only if desired).

  • Building on your insights to begin to make positive changes or set goals.

Themes and Benefits of the Meditations

During the six-week course we will explore a range of meditations. Each meditation has a particular focus or intention. We will cover all or as many of the following subject areas as we can:

Meditations to:

  • Manage anxiety, promote purification and replenishment (for times when you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed).

  • Promote calm, balance, comfort and safety (for times when you need to feel grounded, supported and 'sort yourself out').

  • Access inner guidance and connection with a higher self (for times when you have questions about your future, face dilemmas, don't know which way to turn and are faced with difficult choices - or just when you need a little help).

  • Explore choices to make the right decision, explore the consequences of different courses of action, choose from the heart not from your head (or by following 'shoulds').

  • Reflect on what stage in life you have reached, reflect on who you are and what you need (for times of transition, change, turning points, growth and development).

  • Encourage an unfolding of a new self, for discovering your potential, to explore an emerging 'self', to see who you can become&ldots;

  • Build a relationship with your inner child, to take care of and nurture that child in the here and now, through your own adult-self.

  • Look towards a vision of your 'future self' and to 'meet' and get to know that self, to define precise steps you could take to allow that self to come into being.

Through the meditations, we will be drawing on the qualities of Insight, Intuition and the realm of the subconscious - qualities each and every one of us possesses - to help inform our day to day life.

Who is the Course for?

This course is for anyone over 18, regardless of age, race, sexual preference, religious or non-religious beliefs (there is no religious content in the course). No previous experience of meditation is necessary, although you will need to be able to sit or lie quietly for up to 30 minutes at a time. This course is also ideal for Carers and Counsellors who want to replenish their reserves (qualifies for BACP Continuing Professional Development, section 6)

Will I feel Comfortable?

The most important aspects of the course are safety and comfort - no one is pressurised into talking or sharing their meditation experiences, if they do not wish to.
